David's Organic Heirloom Tomato Combo Pack 10 Varieties 100 Seeds per Order Reviews

Great product!, March 28, 2011 - By  Magnum PI "MagnumPI" (San Antonio, Texas) This review is from: David's Organic Heirloom Tomato Combo Pack 10 Varieties 100 Seeds per OrderI was really excited when I saw this combo pack of tomatoes.Ten types of organically, grown, heirloom tomato seeds all in one package.I was a bit concerned about the price but I decided to give them a try.I started my seeds inside using Dot Pots and two Grow Lights .I put one seed in each pot.I stated with 50 pots. My thinking was too start half now and then have seed left over to re-plant any that did not germinate.Well, only four did not germinate. This was very good.I usually buy my seeds for .99 cents at a discount store and usually half of them will grow, sometimes less.I have learned that good seeds cost good money, but it is money well spent. When it was time I planted my transplants outside using a phosphorus solution called SeaCom-PGR Seaweed Concentrate 0-4-4.My plants had strong growth and looked great. When I set up my garden, I put inTomato Trellis Netting to support them.Usually the tomatoes grow through the trelli net, but in some places I used Tomato Trellis Clips to attach the plant to the net.In some areas, I used some stakes and used a Tomato Trellis Tye Wrap Fastner to attach the tomato plants to the stakes. They started putting out tomatoes. They produced and produced. To help control insects I used Safer Liquid Soap which is an organic insect killer.I only use organics. As a preventative measure, I used Copper Liquid Fungicideto keep my plants disease free.I also used some Shade Cloth as a cover against birds and to help with the heat. The tomatoes were great. The colors were great. My family, friends and neighbors were all amazed at the taste, size and quantity of the tomatoes I harvested.Everyone loved the colors. They were fantastic. My neighbor was having a yard sell, so I decided to put together some baskets with the different colors and sell them.I started with ten. They sold out immediately. My husband took a couple of baskets to work.He called me with orders. And I had tons of tomatoes to store.I canned some.I cooked some up into various sauces and froze them.I made my own tomato juice out of some.I had a great time with these tomatoes.Since I was able to let these rippen on the vine, their taste was able to fully develop. The ones in the store taste like cardboard since they were harvested long before they were fully developed so they could be shipped without rotting.Nothing compares to the taste of vegetables and fruits picked fresh from the vine. But all good things come to an end.The season ended.People were asking for more orders but I have a small area for growing and used all of it for this.I had to tell them it would be three years before I could put these together since I need to rotate my crops each year.I have noticed a Bell Pepper Big 7 Combo Package Features 7 Colors of Sweet Peppers that I am thinking about trying next year.I spent about four hundred dollars on seeds and supplies, plus water. Some of these items can be reused over and over. But the rewards were well worth it. I more than made my investment back.Plus since these seeds are heirloom, I could process some of my tomatoes into seeds to save for next time but this is too much work for me now.I did keep a few back for survival just in case...
